StoreFront Web-interface Smackdown -

- WARNING - Hardcore Developers at work

If the very mention of the word "code" you cringe like nails on a blackboard, then read no further. But if you take the front coding challenges, then this session is for you.

Over the last 12 years, I share a litany of information on the web interface customizations and integrations in various Citrix NetScaler forums. While most would be intimidated by the complexity, time and effort that goes in advanced customizations, the examples will be demonstrated during this session to Citrix Synergy show that it would be well worth it. My IPM team was also to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of StoreFront and compare those Web Interface. This session will present some of the best practices we have assembled and give you valuable insight to keep in mind when deciding to stay with the Web or migrate to StoreFront interface.

So why customize?

There are several reasons - both technical and commercial perspective - about advanced customizations reasons are worth their weight in gold. When standard customizations involve superficial and visible changes, advanced customization add functionality to the web interface offering a value-add. Think branding, speed, accountability, audit-ability, administration and user experience.

Although I will not delve into each of these reasons now (have to leave something for the presentation!), Here's a sample of what you can expect SYN415: advanced best practices for migration from the web interface for StoreFront Wednesday, May 22 8:30 to 9:15 PT time in room 303A repeated and Thursday, May 23, 4:00 -16h45 PST time in ballroom A.

Branding

in the current context of competition. business landscape, it is imperative to incorporate the brand of a company in all aspects of their internal and external communications. Developers can add significant value to their business by creating customizations to fully integrate and equity boost brand, such as:

  • incorporating branding elements (logo , notices, and the color palette)
  • customizing backgrounds / frames per department / workgroup
  • incorporating Web Interface in the company intranet

speed

Everyone from the receptionist to the CEO, are pressed for time and speed is their best ally. Be the one to put the power to the people by creating customizations that improve speed and performance by:

  • eliminating unnecessary procedures "default" .NET
  • pool optimization applications and web. configuration settings
  • by reducing the response time for the first application requests

administration

Each job tasks that deserve to be on the yuck list, but at the end of the day, they still have to do. We speak of the user responsibility, monitoring and reporting system - to highlight a few. Fun stuff right? Ok, maybe not fun, but through advanced customizations you can do without pulling all your hair. For example:

  • simplify the task of modifying multiple authentication sources
  • custom generation user monitoring reports
  • sifting through the overloading information and reports

user Experience

Contrary to your significant other, it does not take much to make a user feel special. You can take advantage of advanced customizations to make subtle but powerful changes that customize the user experience and also connects to the company and its brand. For example:

  • personalization details of the user, such as name, title, department, etc.
  • filter unnecessary information
  • adding functionality that is of interest to the user

advanced customization for the web interface and StoreFront is not rocket science but it can be heavy and sometimes tricky. It does not need to be. Team TECHDEV IPM has treated more than its fair share customizations, and have seen the benefits they offer businesses. Join me at Citrix Synergy and discover how you can leverage these customizations to your advantage and be the rock star in your organization.
