yet once again, I hope you will as always enjoy the last part of the series and, from the comments, please note, if you have questions or suggestions. :)

Pt.3 Delivering Linux Shared Hosted Desktops

1. The updating of the site controller

Copy the update BrokerServiceConfig.ps1 script to the root of the first controller file - C:

Note: the above ps1 script file is in of citrix-linuxvda-scripts-1.0.0.zip file is under the Virtual 1.0 download page desktop Linux to citrix.com/downloads: Linux Virtual desktop 1.0 (scripts)

manually FMA (XA / XD) service snapin License (SDK)

- type ASNP citrix * and press Enter

Note: create an individual profile Posh and save yourself from having consistent and manually FMA snapin of load modules, etc then take a quick look at one of my previous blogs in general @XDtipster Serie .:

- Run update -BrokerServiceConfig.ps1

Note: Per the above issue: the script file updates BrokerService.exe. Config file located at C: Program Files Citrix Broker Service with the necessary WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) and endpoints from Linux VDA necessary bonds, with a copy (appended with .prelinux . 2. Create a Catalogue

- Citrix Studio start

- right click on the machine catalogs node> Select Create Catalogue

[1945001KlickenSieauf Next on the first page

- -] Select Windows Server OS

Note: at this time Citrix does Studio do not support the concept of a "Linux OS"; However, OS here Windows Server selection implies an equivalent deployment model shared desktops. The Windows desktop OS option includes a single user per delivery model machine which is on Linux VDAS not applicable, therefore, even if "Desktop" to use Linux distributions, the Windows Server operating system option must be selected.

taken by the Red Hat Installation Guide

as PVS, MCS and power management Prior knowledge is not for Linux VDAS (v1.0 via XA / XD 7.6 FP2) supported at this time, select the following equipment management options:

- machines that are not managed power
- Another service or technology

- Click on Next

- Add the CentOS VM & AD computer account and make sure that 7.6 as VDA version

is selected - click Next

- corresponding name of the machine catalog and click end

3. Create a delivery group

- right click on the Delivery node groups> Choose Create Delivery group

- Click on Next on the first page

- In the available CentOS 6.6 machine and click Next

Note at this present time not Application Delivery support Linux VDA machines and therefore

Note must supply type desktops

- Click on Next storefront / receiver integration manually at a later date

configure - rename the delivery group appropriate and click end

[confirm 3. Registration

Once the CentOS 6.6 machine has the delivery group has been added, you may have to wait up to 2 minutes for the VDA successfully to register with the site controller defined as defined by the VDA configuration script ( ctxsetup.sh ) in part 2 of this blog series. The reason for this being that not correct with the new endpoints and bindings configured required at time of VDA configuration of the defined site controller, ie dc76.glover.com, was to Linux VDA registration and thus prior registration support experimentation could out of hand rejected by the site controller

. Note: for a first registration attempt initially rejected (7-10 seconds after Citrix Desktop Service start-up), further testing would be continued until the internal doubling latency algorithm achieved the maximum limit of 2 minutes, culminating in harmony and continue to indefinitely every 2 minutes registration attempts

. IMPORTANT: If you continue to see registration problems at this point. Read the following discussion for a possible solution:

Linux VDA 1.0 / CentOS 6.6 - VDA not registering

Update Citrix Studio occasionally, until the registration is confirmed in accordance with the illustration below:

Note: If the registration takes longer than expected. Check the VDA restart newly initiating communication with the updated site controller configuration step in Part 2 of this blog series and / or the VDA Services:

Service ctxvda restart
or
sudo / sbin / service ctxvda restart log

4. Confirm successful launch and connect to the CentOS Shared Hosted desktop via ICA / HDX

Once storefront is configured accordingly, and start your CentOS 6.6 Common Hosted desktop:

Now you have it ... my three part blog series on the Linux VDA setup on CentOS 6.6. I hope you enjoy and preserve along.

Finally, I would just once iterate again that this blog series focused on a currently unsupported Linux Distro and is not for the current Linux VDA installation instructions for replacing found on docs.citrix.com:

installation instructions for Red Hat
installation guide for SUSE

Note: you need to check these btw, because they contain loads of additional information, including troubleshooting tips, VDA un -Installationsanweisungen etc ...

Instead, this is my attempt to help things to supplement the official documentation and to keep STREET for all RTFM generation are of which I think that I am proud to be a member.

until next time ... keep them there FMA !!!

Sincerely,

Mick Glover (aka XD Tipster "Rocking XenDesktop since 08")
