I love it when I go to see a project that I'm involved in a little deliver so something really impressive. Nothing beats that feeling of being a small cog in a well oiled machine!
Earlier this year, I was asked with others to provide a small XenServer engineering entry work with our consulting teams in Australia, working with our partner IBM to deploy a new large XenDesktop on XenServer for Westpac. This involved working with a number of partners to provide enhanced security and networking for deployment. During this deployment IBM built an optimal reference architecture for deploying Citrix XenDesktop on XenServer that can grow to tens of thousands of virtual machines. Another element of the Citrix stack have also been integrated to provide a single solution, as Netscaler.
I am delighted to be able to see the architecture Westpac nominated for best solution partner at Citrix Summit, with a fascinating video explaining what has been achieved here. Westpac was 11 th the world and the largest bank initially deployed 15,000 office all virtual machines on XenServer, but with build in future scalability. IBM and Westpac have worked with our safety partners to reduce the complexity of their migration systems from their pre-existing VDI solution smoothly.
This was a great project to play a small role in and with IBM laying such a solid reference solutions that involved many groups across Citrix are working together to provide a consistent solution an integrated, I think we'll see replicated in other banks and industries.
If you are one of our 5000+ Citrix Partner Summit meeting in Florida this week, try and catch up with IBM and the other candidates for a truly exciting insight.
