"Rock-solid in terms of security, but it also has one of the most elegant interfaces "
, which was used to describe the solution SecureView in a recent article by Government Computer News (GCN), which reviewed and SecureView described as "gracious given how secure it [SecureView] was" and "a surprisingly affordable solution that perfectly meets the needs of the security community of the government." SecureView is a security solution hardened developed government through technical collaboration between Citrix, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Assured Information security (AIS), and Intel. It was created to allow sharing between various intelligence services (which has become more important than ever after 9/11) and protect against security threats increasingly sophisticated details.
Recent years have seen an increase in organizations of professional attackers are essentially mercenaries hired for targeted attacks against high-value targets such as the intelligence community. These organizations are able to violate some of the safest environments in the world with well-funded, "pirates hire" professionals and the ability to buy and sell attacks on underground markets. Government agencies have generally responded to these security threats and information sharing among multiple agencies by isolating foods from various networks and security domains on separate physical computers, separate networks, monitors and cables. However, this has proven to be extremely expensive and heavy, with analysts having to keep a dedicated workstation, monitor, and several cables for each field on their desktop. An alternative is to use other custom security solutions that are extremely expensive and quickly become obsolete because of security threats continually evolving.
SecureView best meets these challenges for government organizations protecting their IT environment against persistent security threats while lowering TCO and provide a great user experience. It is based on the platform of Citrix XenClient XT client virtualization, a local secure virtual desktop solution that offers high levels of security, isolation and performance in highly regulated environments such as those found in the public sector, financial services and energy industries. XenClient XT is through a Project Xen ™ hypervisor customer hardened, security features hardware-assisted, and a platform for open development, extensible.
SecureView leverages the core capabilities of Citrix XenClient XT to provide high assurance security and isolation for government agencies, including goals such as high-value intelligence community. For example, it is designed for security from the ground up with an architecture that disintegrates and Rewards From features such as networking and VPN modules, separated completely isolated for added security and isolation. In addition, it uses Type 1 client hypervisor Xen Project ™, which has been improved by using SELinux and Xen project safety modules or MSX to further harden the hypervisor with additional access control mechanisms. SecureView also uses security features assisted XenClient XT equipment using Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) to establish a confidence measure dynamic root for a good basic calculation known at startup. This offers the possibility to start a reliable and verified every time.
SecureView complete security, isolation, and XenClient XT performance advantages with its MultiView function which has several workstations and thin clients running on different networks ON a single physical system. MultiView allows security analysts to view data from different networks (ie JWICS, SIPRNet, NIPRNet) on a physical desktop with a network connection. These flows are still completely separated from each other and are presented through a simple and elegant interface for a seamless user experience. In addition, SecureView uses Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Intel vPro hardware that can run even the most demanding workloads and 3D applications. The solution SecureView allowed government agencies to successfully collaborate with each other while protecting highly sensitive information against ongoing security threats. All this is done while providing near-native performance for user experience. More importantly, it simplifies and reduces the cost of IT, the TCO analysis by AFRL and Intel shows that SecureView reduces total cost of ownership up to 67% compared to single-domain architectures and 45% compared to a thin client widely deployed, multi-domain architecture.
