These factors have given a kind of fuel for the bill that has not been witnessed in some previous similar attempts. However, many politicians have criticized the lack of specificity of the legislation and said they would not support such. All these things can seem rather worrying for the British who are concerned about their privacy. In fact, according to a survey by Broadband Genie, searches for VPN terms increased by 51% during the first quarter of 2016 on Google. In addition, 40% of respondents said they could pass VPN if Bill Powers of investigation adopted (only 13% of respondents currently use one). Curiously, the bill never mentions VPNs in any way.
