hybrid clouds for Desktop and applications with Citrix and Cisco -

The cloud, as we all know, continues to be a hot topic as companies of all sizes are trying to find the best way to leverage cloud architectures to improve the agility, efficiency and access for the end user. Increasingly, the answer is a hybrid cloud model -. Giving companies the opportunity to choose both on and off site / service provider on the basis of resources to run workloads based on what best fits their needs

Almost all clients I meet these days is headed in that direction and most actively considering a hybrid cloud strategy. In fact, in recent years, Citrix has worked with service providers and enterprises on their cloud processing - and this trip is still new, we have taken many steps signifcant:

  • scalability: for hybrid clouds to adopt mass, scalability is essential. A key lesson we learned here is to design cloud orchestration so you can quickly get started with one or two cases of use and reliable scale as your requirements grow, without locking to a specific architecture of the workload or endure a huge management fees. Today, cloud and virtualization technologies of Citrix power some of the largest clouds of the planet - Citrix CloudPlatform powered by Apache CloudStack open source is used by leading service providers including British Telecom, NTT , Datapipe, Sungard, KDDI, KT, IDC Frontier Colt, orange and mobile Taiwan datacenters worldwide, many with tens of thousands of virtual machines, as well as companies such as interactive Disney, SAP, Nokia, Edmunds.com, the University of Melbourne, Kyushu Univeristy, and others.
  • Workload Support: While most customers begin adopting a cloud architecture for new applications that match a model of cloud scale-out as Dev / test, Big Data , Gaming, and applications across the Web; they want to quickly grow beyond to include basic business workloads such as workstations and Windows applications. Which is why we are very happy today announced the new Citrix Cloud Provider Pack 2 that allows thousands of Citrix Service Providers to take the multi-party lease a cloud architecture as in CloudPlatform DaaS their architectures.
  • validated architectures : a key to accelerating time-to-market is validated, reproducible reference architecture. There is one year, Citrix and Cisco announced an expanded partnership in the areas of networking, cloud, desktop and mobility in order to develop solutions that will accelerate the adoption together with our mutual customers. Hundreds of joint customers have benefited from this relationship - customers such as the University of Sao Paulo adopted the cloud and turned to an IT-as-a-Service model leveraging Cisco UCS, Citrix CloudPlatform, NetScaler, XenDesktop and XenApp. We continue to build on this successful partnership with prescriptive reference architectures validated between Cisco and Citrix that enable service providers to easily leverage the new Cloud Provider Pack with XenDesktop, XenApp on CloudPlatform using the Cisco UCS infrastructure.

We are very pleased to take this next step to help customers realize the potential of hybrid clouds across all workloads -. including desktops and desktop applications
