Avaya announced the general availability of their UC solution optimized for Citrix XenDesktop VDI Avaya Communicator. As I explained in a previous blog note on the HDX RealTime technology, using a softphone that is optimized for VDI results in more server scalability because media processing is performed by the user device. This also ensures uncompromised audio quality and effectiveness of the optimal bandwidth. new Avaya solution improves the delivery of one-X Communicator softphone XenDesktop 5.x, offering significant benefits for customers using Aura Communication Manager. The solution was validated with a variety of HP thin clients and Wyse as well as recycled computers. One of its unique features is a fallback "Down IU Session" that can continue to use the softphone even if the network connection to XenDesktop server fails or there is a fault in the data center.
