1. Overview of this blog
The intention of this blog is seen steps troubleshooting steps for most common XMS database to provide connectivity issues and troubleshooting purposes
XenMobile component version details :.
The following document is tested on these versions:
Component | version |
XMS | 10.0.0.62300 |
MSSQL | 2012 |
2. XMS connectivity to remote MSSQL database
error / ScreenShot # 1 :. MSSQL server IP / FQDN unreachable
Admin Console XMS Server screen, as seen above get no sub-menu options are shown and sometimes the error when the connection session between XMS and MSSQL is still active. However, when you start the XMS server, you are the error:
Because of MSSQL server is unreachable, XMS is go into recovery mode
. Solution:
- Make sure that MSSSQL Server XMS can be reached safely. Also check if you can ping from XMS to MSSQL IP. To ping Login XMS Server CLI and select> Troubleshooting> Network Utility> Ping.
- If you are using FQDN in the DB settings XMS if you change the FQDN of MSSQL, has to be changed in the same XMS also. The FQDN should XMS before connectivity are changed, lost or to restart it
error / Screenshot # 2 :. MSSQL server can be accessed, but password changed or expired.
As long as the call session between XMS and SQL DB is active, you can perform all operations. However, when you start XMS new, you will have the status "Start configuration app" as FAIL, then see there is a problem to connect database. XMS will start in recovery mode. Sometimes the XMS will go in loop and does it restored
. Solution:
- Check
- when the password is changed in XMS communication between XMS and MSSQL DB
- Check if the password is changed must make sure that you change it when the connectivity is still active, or before starting the new XMS. If you do not update the password and restart the XMS, it is in recovery mode and usage less, and you will need to turn a new XMS instance (in this case only the possibility -. Apart from the configuration. a new XMS VM is to return the old password in MS SQL, and then start the XMS server and change to a new password that is done, you can now change the password in MS SQL - make sure that the passwords are the same)
Conclusion : Summary of the above error or applications, as long as the session XMS connectivity is active with MSSQL DB server, you can use the XMS. However, when running the connectivity or is lost, you will see page can not be displayed or configuration error message in the browser and sometimes hangs the browser. You should that ensure connectivity between XMS and SQL Server is working and active.
More important thing is when you need to change the password or IP FQDN / address change of MSSQL server in XMS, make sure you change these values, if the connection to MSSQL server is active. Once you start going XMS new or lost connectivity, you will not be able to modify the information, such as XMS go into recovery mode due to lost DB connection and it will not accept any changes. In this scenario, you need to turn a new XMS VM and point it to the same DB.
