Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this blog!
I wanted to provide a quick and easy guide to install Remote PC Access, from its first release last June. In fact, the deployment and management of the installation of the technology has been greatly improved with the incorporation of technology in XenDesktop Studio and Virtual Desktop Agent UI. For details on other new features, see my blog here: / blogs / 2013/05/22 / remote-desktop-mobility with-remote-pc-access-in-XenDesktop-7 /
Now with the installation
server:
- Download XenDesktop 7 here: http://www.citrix.com/downloads/xendesktop/product - software.html
- Prep a Windows server 08 R2 or 2012: http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/xendesktop-7/cds-sys-requirements.html
- After installation, run the studio and select "PC Access remote deployment" See Figure 1
- during the initial creation, it will ask the creation of the catalog and transfer to your posts working for users, using a combination of machine accounts / OU and user accounts / groups - if you are familiar with the remote PC service, this is his replacement, only much more flexible! See Figure 2 * Please note, do not use the VDA 5.6 when checking this box, use the VDA 5.6 FP1 or 5.6.0, 5.6.300 or hotfixes .
- StoreFront Setup for the web and access BYO Receiver http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/dws-storefront-20/dws-manage.html
PC / laptop:
- Install the Virtual Desktop Agent on the PC or laptop (for laptops follow these guidelines: http: //support.citrix .com / proddocs / topic / XenDesktop-7 / cds-RemotePC plan html) using the user interface or silent installation metainstaller with ESD solution. http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/xendesktop -7 / cds-install-config-intro.html - See Figure 3 . You can also note the prompt decision Pro 3D. There could be a group of users in your organization that require GPU applications and for details on appropriate Pro 3D desktop installations, see here: http://www.citrix.com/products/xendesktop/features/high -def-experience / hdx-3d-pro.html
- Restart the PC or laptop target, then log in as a local user account. The XenDesktop broker will autoassign the user account on the desktop
Client / BYOD:
- Go to the URL with XenDesktop broker a web browser from another receiver with desktop installed http://www.citrix.com/products/receiver/overview.html and connection as the user. The desktop icon should be accessible by the user and able to run with the receiver.
- To enable BYOD connections, download the App Store shopping receiver of the device and configure Storefront http://support.citrix.com/proddocs / topic / dws-storefront-20 / dws-create- store.html
Finally, to enable SSL encrypted secure connections without cumbersome VPN tunnel, download and install Netscaler gateway: http: // www .citrix.com / products / NetScaler-gateway / try. html - if you have already NS gateway (Access gateway), then add the new site Storefront and appropriate firewall rules for the TCP port 1495/2598 him on PC / laptops.
Note: You can create catalogs and additional assignments later to mix and match OU with user groups and apply different policies to control HDX things like clipboard, printing and mapping apparatus drive, more commonly known as virtual channels. You can also customize the user experience and behavior as well. this experience management in the Citrix terminology is called "SmartAccess". For details: http://hdx.citrix.com/hdx-smartaccess
In closing, remote PC access is designed to be a simple, ease administration and user frustration with remote desktop access, but still provide security and performance than you are used to Citrix HDX technologies built on.
Tell us how your experience in the comments section!
