Examples of how big data is changing the world are abound. From the infamous electoral data from Nate Silver at the last discussion of the data around "March Madness", the impact of big data on our lives is undeniable. What was interesting, however, is the emphasis on how technology, especially around cloud computer, enabled the great discussion of data to really take off. If you think that high technology has had a profound impact on the data, just wait until you see how big data will change the landscape of technology.

Anyone who made their contribution IT also knows that the infrastructure produced a wealth of data. syslog terabytes of data are generated every day, the NetFlow data generates enough graphics, real-time SNMP data triggers pagers and mobile phones buzzing at all hours of the night to get attention. Unfortunately, most of this data is stored, used for their immediate operational value, then quickly rejected. At best, the SNMP data is preserved over time sufficient to identify the basic trends in areas such as the use of bandwidth.

But that is changing. Specifically, there are two aspects of big data infrastructure that change: (1) smarts data, and (2) What we do with the data

The syslog bucket was largely just that -. a bucket to throw various data. The purpose of a newspaper over another is usually left to the imagination of the developer. SNMP and NetFlow held similar requirements with SNMP has the distinction of having the greatest strategic potential. As we begin to explore what could be done with the data for analysis and correlation, infrastructure manufacturers such as Citrix NetScaler start asking how we can make the underlying information more useful. For us, a key step was developed AppFlow for HTTP which added IPFIX records to application data and allowed administrators to link together a variety of packages and data flow to the application-specific transactions. A link that has never been offered in web environments.

With the data generated, the vendors in the analysis space began to wonder what else is possible. This was particularly interesting for vendors that focus on inter-domain data collections that allows them to correlate data from a variety of devices. For directors of the company, be capable of data interconnect their entire data center is a powerful feature that has the potential to lead to smarter design decisions as well as the increase in gains efficiency in implementation as well as purchase. The bottom line is that the different technologies we have adopted in the data center in recent years, some have the potential to be so far reaching in the way we manage our businesses that analysis had.

As the options are held for width options for the treatment of this mountain of data, a new generation of analysis is set to emerge that looks deep. Specifically, how can understand more deeply in a short list of applications provide a powerful addition to the width of the tools? Or in other words, once I know that a device or a specific piece of software is part of the key stream which still has the analysis, how can I get this analysis? That's where we'll see the next generation of tools appear as additions to current capabilities.
