The question we often hear "how do I use my existing ConfigMgr infrastructure, packaged applications and processes to easily deploy applications in a Citrix environment?"

The XenDesktop connector explicitly designed for that purpose.

The connector allows you to use ConfigMgr to deploy applications in a XenDesktop server OS battery from ConfigMgr, and it ensures that if you are using either PVS or MCS for provisioning, the clones not get caught in the installation / reboot hell and the Master VM for your PVS or MCS catalog gets properly updated - making it easy for you to deploy an image refreshed at any time.

once your application is deployed ConfigMgr can then be used to publish the application in Citrix StoreFront where it can be selected for use by users on any device that has installed Receiver (iPad., Android, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, etc.)

Finally for managed computers (Domain joined PC with installed ConfigMgr agent), you can specify the version of an application, a user must obtain - app- V, MSI, OR XenDesktop published application. For example, using the policy ConfigMgr you can determine a user access through Citrix Receiver Visio if the machine they use are not then on the corporate network that they would have a local copy deployed App-V for them if they were on the corporate network.

In summary, the connector lets you use the Configuration Manager as a deployment mechanism of the central application that allows you to:

• Deploy MSI books Visa applications -V XenDesktop OS Server farms in the same way that you deploy on traditional desktops - an administrator can deploy an application on the desktop (physical or virtual) in your organization
• Publish applications StoreFront / receiver from ConfigMgr
• selectively deploy applications. as App-V, MSI OR XenDesktop Published Application Managed PC

what can you test with this version

In this first Tech Preview you can test the following key scenarios ?:

• Use one site System Center 2012 SP1 Configuration Manager to manage a site XenDesktop
• Use one site System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager to manage a site XenDesktop
• deploy MSI or App-V applications XenDesktop bodies OS 7.1 Server (workers)
• deploy applications PVS managed OS Server catalogs
• Enable SCCM to deploy XenApp deployment type for managed clients

limitations

As this version is a Tech Preview please note the following limitations:

• We do not support this connector in an environment production and strongly recommends that be used in laboratory or PoC environments.
• There will be no upgrade this Tech Preview to the final version. We may ask you to completely uninstall the Tech Preview, its components and the data in System Center before installing the final version. We strongly recommend you not to install the connector in a production environment.
• We support the connector when used against one site System Center and unique online XenDesktop.
• We hold that XenDesktop server OS (RDSH) scenarios and does not support XenDesktop scenarios OS client (VDI / RDVH) scenarios
• We do not support the software deployment orchestrated the catalogs MCS servers based in this release.
• There is no support for high availability (HA) configurations in this release.

The personal vDisk (PVD) technology is very powerful and allows many cases of use with great local XenDesktop XenClient Enterprise mode lever 5.

"How Apps Allow administrator-installed" Only with XenClient Enterprise and PvD "is a new blog where I highlighted an issue surrounding the PVD technology in XenClient Enterprise. for maximum customization, the default setting PvD allows users to install applications in their virtual desktop while administrators can continue to update and control the base image. in this position I have described how to disable the end user to have local administrator rights. Image Preparation:
First, the administrator using the Synchronizer will build the basic system with a VHD operating and all the basic applications that are common throughout the company. This basic VHD will be maintained and updated centrally update the XenClient Enterprise Synchronizer. ( Note: For best practices around PvD, please read: PvD Best Practices article). Once complete, the administrator will publish and deploy the VHD file to all desired target terminals

Endpoint Change :.
Once the VHD is deployed, each terminal allows customization of PVD (VHD application) layer filters and other user data to another layer (VHD user). Attempting to deploy a "one size fits all 'image, while desirable, is probably not possible. There will always be a user or department who will require a specific application to be installed above and beyond what is included in the base image. Here is what the power of PvD allows.

For example (shown in the figure above), the user Violet is the demand for Microsoft Project ( App3 ) while the Group Green is the Adobe Acrobat application ( App4 ). As an administrator, the goal is not to complicate the management, but rather to simplify the process. Administrators can still take advantage of the PC Lifecycle Management tools such as Microsoft SCCM or even deployment via Microsoft Group Policy object to deploy applications in a VM PvD. This will allow administrators to set a base image, but allows customization by user or group.

With Synchronizer, the base image is guaranteed to be consistent, increasing significantly patch and update the more traditional agent-based PC management success rate. In addition, with the Synchronizer, the updates are made to the layer of the hypervisor, even if there is a problem in the base image that corrupts the image of the operating system, making CFFP traditional inefficient, the Synchronizer can still successfully update the base image.

Image Update:
once deployed, the administrator can update the Synchronizer central image if this change is an update of the operating system , an update of the application or a new application. This is done without impacting the user customizations on the endpoint. An administrator finalizes the steps and testing these updates, they are published, deployed, and applied to the end

The result :.
You achieve a single image management with user / variation of the Ministry at the end where data and applications installed administrator users persist even reboot. This means that the administrator can update the central image and deploy these updates to X devices from a central console. - While allowing customization of applications to the end
