En route to Los Angeles Citrix Synergy this week? Dust ear-Synergy mouse is at the Anaheim Convention Center, just a block or two from Disneyland. Citrix VDI-in-a-Box 5.3 with Windows 8 support, Single Sign-On and User-Driven interface SSL Certificate Installation -

South Greetings from California! Mark Templeton announced XenDesktop 7 today at Synergy Keynote here in Anaheim, and we all share the enthusiasm of the audience. So I wanted to give you an update on the VDI-in-a-Box, the next version of VDI-in-a-Box shares some important technologies with Citrix XenDesktop 7.

Remember maybe a blog post I wrote a month ago about VDI-in-a-Box Project Curacao. The technology preview was for two weeks and a number of our partners and customers really liked. Today we are pleased to announce that we turn Curacao project in the next version of VDI-in-a-Box, version 5.3. VDI-in-a-Box 5.3 will be available in late June and focus on the following areas:

Full Windows 8 support

Version 5.3 will ship with the same component VDA / HDX and PVD (Personal vDisk) as XenDesktop component 7. This is the first time we have major updates to the technology "simship" between XenDesktop and VDI-in-a-Box! Windows 8 virtual desktops will work with HDX connections for a better user experience, and benefit from the improvement in the 3D support of the application, the new H.264 SuperCodec, and reduced bandwidth consumption. personal workstations (PVD) will be available on both Windows 7 and Windows 8, providing a personalized user experience on the latest Windows desktop operating system.

We also include support for the new format VHDX Windows 2012. In the current version of VDI-in-a-Box, the VHDX screen still works, but is converted to VHD format on the fly. VDI-in-a-Box 5.3 will support VHDX formats natively, allowing customers to take advantage of the new format.

Better supportability

For IT and support organizations, we improved VDI-in-a-Box logging in key areas such as licensing, jgroup and HV connector. Log collection is also facilitated. - Now you can collect logs from all vdiManagers on vdiManager by clicking a button

As seen in the overview of the technology, VDI-in-a-Box will come with a new 5.3 SSL controlled by a assistant installation and certificate management. Admins often need to install an SSL certificate on trust vdiManagers to avoid security warnings in browsers of end users, and they used to have to do from the command line of each vdiManager device. Version 5.3 lets you install and manage SSL certificates that are both reliable and self-signed from the administration console. You will be able to distribute certificates installed on other servers in a grid from the same user interface.

VDI-in-a-Box 5.3 will come with Citrix Universal Print components make the printing experience level with XenDesktop. Admins no longer needs to install multiple network printer drivers in the gold more pictures. Universal Printing requires no driver installation in pictures.

We supported the three major hypervisors and with each release VDI-in-a-Box, we added support for the latest versions of hypervisors. In version 5.3, we add support for the next version of XenServer.

NetScaler SPDY gateway functionality boosts the response time of the server -

HTTP was the workhorse on the web for over a decade. But it was designed at a time when the applications were written very differently and are not too complex. The Web today has come a long way with the content files is rich, multi-media, JavaScript, and mobility support. Unfortunately HTTP has not kept pace and needs a refresh for mobile applications and other.

To reduce the use of bandwidth, making Internet communications faster and accelerate the use of loading time of a new compatible bi-layer HTTP is increasingly in popularity. It is known as SPDY and is a protocol (SSL) encrypted Session Layer introduced for the treatment of light HTTP. SPDY is not an acronym; it is the full name of an open network protocol for transporting Web content. The goal of SPDY is to reduce web page load time using a single TCP connection per domain. SPDY achieves this by allowing the intertwined resource requests and prioritizing between resources.

SPDY provides a number of advantages over standard HTTP connection. It transmits fewer packets and therefore reduces packet loss and reduces the ballooning of the buffer on the intermediate routers. It also requires fewer TCP connections and uses these connections more efficiently. For example, redundant headers are removed, other headers are compressed, and it supports the priority application. SPDY manages asynchronous interleaved to prevent blockage of the router. SPDY also realizes reduced latency by leveraging content compression. HTTP performance improvements result on the beach from 27 to 60 percent in load times without encryption and 39 to 55 percent with SSL. These gains are even more evident when customers see the packet loss rate of over 2 percent common in mobile environments.

Although most browsers support SPDY server infrastructure today / to still operated largely on HTTP application. With the introduction of SPDY a number of problems arise from this shift: the layer 4 of treatment should take place; security best practices are broken; and capacity planning is affected. The promises of this protocol will not be satisfied. A networking device which can transform SPDY HTTP messages is necessary. This gateway functionality allows the optimization layer 7 and provides time for data centers to move to support SPDY. SPDY is slowly changing as a protocol increasingly popular websites can adopt without having to rebuild their existing infrastructure.

NetScaler Application Delivery Controller provides complete integration of this gateway functionality in all editions and software platforms (MPX, VPX and SDX). These devices acts as a proxy and to ensure communication HTTP clients and servers as well as SPDY sessions and transform them. Incoming requests are stripped of their SPDY layer and server responses have added SPDY encapsulation. No loss of functionality is engaged in the execution of this gateway. For example, the full content of layer 7 switching and data analysis continue to be available. NetScaler also supports Protocol Next Negotiation (NPN) which is required for SSL modules used with SPDY gateway functionality. Extensions for NPN TLS are also included.
