description

CDFMonitor is a small, lightweight, versatile utility used in conjunction with the installation of Citrix Diagnostics (CDF) tracing to troubleshoot and monitor Citrix products. Some of the features are the ability to monitor a trace message, perform an action for a trace message, and notify when a message occurs. It can function as a user process or as a service from a console or GUI. Built-in utility is the ability to analyze and display the captured trace files saved in native format using Citrix .etl TMF. To view the trace messages in real time or post capture, possibly the Output tab displays all messages and can be filtered.

All configuration information is stored in a .exe.config .net file for ease of installation and deployment. The utility has many possible configurations, but only those appropriate are activated depending on the activity that is currently selected. There are two views, basic and advanced, as a function of activity and not all options are necessary.

For recording traces, there are many options, including local, remote, or network. A permanent service can be installed using a circular buffer as a long-term recording solution for example. Some configurations have requirements that restrict or prohibit the recording of data on the local device. Using CDFMonitor can mitigate these problems by filtering the data gets logged in addition to sending trace information directly over the network to an instance "server".
