A fundamental project management principles is that project success occurs when it is delivered on time, respecting the budget and with a quality level which is satisfactory for the customer. Of course, these dimensions are valid for any desktop virtualization project as well
Although much information on budget planning and TCO / ROI for virtual desktop / application delivery projects can be available on the Internet (eg http .: //flexcast.citrix.com/analyzeandcompare.html), the amount of information on planning time and success criteria is very low.
Since this lack of publicly available information causes each client to "reinvent the wheel" and thus add some delays in their projects, we thought it is time to provide some guidance on these topics
the result of our efforts became part of the new version of Citrix Virtual Desktop Handbook (http :. //support.citrix .com / article / CTX136546). Version 1 of this white paper focuses on the analysis phase that identifies the necessary information before beginning the design phase and describes the project management tasks I mentioned earlier.
But instead of simply discussing topics from a theoretical point of view, give advice and tools that can be used for all your projects in detail later. For example, you will get a sample project plan (Microsoft Project), which describes and provides estimates of the duration for each step of a desktop virtualization project (example below).
In addition, the white paper discusses a general methodology of the project, describes how business priorities can be identified and provides detailed information about the roles required during ' a corporate quality project (example below).
This and more can be found in the Virtual Desktop Manual new Citrix (http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX136546).
so, check it out!
