When I started using the Internet before the end of 1994, I thought that everything I did was invisible unless I signed my name. As my understanding grew, quickly became a shattered illusion for me. What privacy online now? It is a complex series of services lock, password, and networks that can make or break your privacy.
I will watch what privacy is today, how you can earn more privacy, and show you some tools to help you.
What is privacy?
you use your computer every day to send and receive data that must be kept private. This can include:
- Your passwords
- Bank details
- the credit card data via online shopping
- personal email communications
- Photos ... you know what types of pictures ...
online privacy refers to all this and more. No matter what you do, or how good you are, you will give up a little privacy to go online. That's how the online world works. Consider going online as being similar to going outside. You can wear a mask, long clothing, and cover up ... but the people who know you well know that you are out of the house. Worse yet, someone could attack you on the ground and remove your mask.
When do you need privacy online?
There are times when privacy is a big concern, as when we post a funny video on our Facebook page for Mom. You publicly display something, and it will not take much for almost anyone to get to see it. There will be some privacy offered by the privacy policy of Facebook, but you can not be sure what settings you mom. So there is a form of privacy here, but it is about the public 
The main times when you need privacy when you are: .
- Contact your bank
- Making purchases online
- Entering connection details
- Sending personal documents (especially labor)
in each of these cases, you send some something of the utmost importance to you. We are well beyond sharing a video with our mom on Facebook, we are in the territory to share things that can really harm us if exposed.
How can you lose your online privacy?
Although there are laws that protect your privacy online, we all know that not everyone follows the law. How can you be exposed? Many, many ways. Some of the most common will be discussed nex.t I will propose workarounds below
- Keyloggers: These are the most common on public computers, but your PC can be a victim. These tools connect literally all your keystrokes so your passwords and login information can be discovered
- Solution :. public computers should not be used for much more than the random surfing. Do not connect to anything you really value. A good antivirus software keep them out of your own home computer
- False WAPs :. Public WiFi "free" you will find in the world can not be so free afterall. Hackers install their own free WAP (Wireless Access Point) that you can connect. They will then be "sniff" your traffic by reading the unencrypted bits in text form, or request to create a connection. They will then use this connection and use a tool t
o try to connect to other sites, usually those involving money
- Solution: . using a VPN on public Wi-Fi should be the priority of all. You have no guarantee that the connection you are using has a high level encryption on it. The VPN will take care of this for you with the highest encryption standards. A large VPN for this is our senior VPN provider, IPVanish
- browser history :. The data you leave behind in your browser can be stolen by the next person to access your computer. Your browser stores a tremndous amount of data through cookies left by the websites you visit. Some of these data are your login information
- Solution :. Clear your browser history when you get off the computer! I know it's tempting to just close your laptop and walk away, but you need to stop and clear all if you share your computer in any way
- Hacks on sites :. When shopping online data you provide to the Website is stored. These information centers are points of attack for hackers because they can easily access ways to make money. All this also applies to your personal email and accounts where you can store bank information

- Solution: you have to think long and hard about what you want to publish online . Do you really need to tell people that you are on your way to the airport, or a stalker would want to know?
