And giving a week it was for @CitrixPartners!
another evening came to an end on the expo floor. The lights have is empty, the parking staff are made to one party or another, and I sit here at my podium, quenches my hoarse voice with a mug of Macallan 12 year old Scotch. My head is still spinning from the amazing announcements we made at WPC this week. I'm sure it's the announcements and not Scotch. Probably. Further testing is required.
Christmas in July
With the announcement that we offer one year free use of AppDNA our Citrix partners, so they can help their customers, the Windows 10- migration projects, it really is like Christmas in July. Serious. This is getting better as a bicycle or a G. I. Joe with the Kung Fu grip.
But I digress.
As you may know, AppDNA is the industry-leading application lifecycle management tool. And when used in migration projects, they can speed up projects by up to 0%. It was as part of XenApp and XenDesktop Platinum editions available for a while now, but now the Citrix Solutions Advisors have free use of it. F-R-E-E :. FREE
I have many close friends who also CSA-partner and the biggest complaint I hear from them is their often meager margins in migration projects about their business. Traditionally they would have on a migration project to a customer. Then they would have to fly in a group of engineers who would camp out in a conference room for weeks or months, the installation and any application to test manually.
Well, I do not know whether you know it or not, but the quality engineers are not cheap. So who benefits from this team of engineers to pay a hefty salary, they have to pay travel and other expenses, and they have to pay countless other operating costs such as project managers and more. And by the end of the project they are often happy if they made a profit.
But if they use AppDNA free, they could literally go to the customer, align the AppDNA client to the application libraries, MSI or EXE, and specific reporting in a fraction of the time, a database and that built customer and the project to warp speed.
and how to know from my previous posts, the reports show you in a consumption, fashion expense calculator to the applications to the next version of Windows or SQL, App-V, XenApp, Internet Explorer etc. No more engineers sit in stuffy conference rooms each loops through applications to migrate one after another. And believe me ... it was not a room you wanted to go in after lunch
Think of it this way. To it You go from Boston to Orlando. You could be a high-end Mercedes S-class loaded with heated seats, satellite radio, navigation, and more go and buy. You could drive that Benz to get the 24 hours or so, it would be from Boston to Orlando to take. Or , you can get free use of Tom Brady private with Gisele Bundchen as your personal flight attendant and get it in 3 hours.
Which would you choose?
bring in the lawyers
I hear what you say. You say "Sean, this is too good to be true. Too good, we say! What's the catch?"
I'm glad you asked that, because this is not some Billy Mays (may he rest in peace) infomercial where we "just pay separate shipping" using a hit Deal. But when a software company to provide powerful are as AppDNA away FREE (did I mention yet that it free?) The lawyers have to get involved, and add
The condition for this is "provisions. "In the end of the migration project 10 Windows database and files must login to be taken away and with you, the CSA
again, I hear what you say .: " But Sean, you preach always that AppDNA not just a migration tool, but a holistic tool is Application Lifecycle management "
Well, I'm glad you listened, and you're absolutely right.
I'm sure we have all the sick-to-your-stomach experienced showers that when the nightly news headlines is yet another big companies that have gone bad because a software update to its knees has been. And yes, AppDNA can be used to analyze new applications or updates to existing ones against our production photos report on any action which they may have. Before you apply the update in the production.
Well, I know that there are from software companies, the tools that you need for the event, "rollback" allow update "breaks" your system. To put it in legacy terms, the "last known good" version. But then it is too late. I'd rather be informed ahead of time that a particular chili cheese fry my artery is clogged before me someone with an external defibrillator zapping. But that's just my opinion.
The good news
There is good news, though! If your customer already licenses XenApp or XenDesktop Platinum has then the database and log files can stay! And if they do not platinum? There is a whole team of experts who would be willing to create to help an upgrade plan that meets their needs and keeps their application delivery strategy humming along like a well oiled machine.
But wait there's more!
Yes, true infomercial mode, there is more news from the convention center here in Florida. We have announced the release of Citrix Receiver 4.3 for Windows 10 and Framehawk. That's right, Receiver for Windows!
So if your employees start for Windows 10 on their personal devices take advantage of the free download upgrade assume they can stay productive by also the new receiver download. From their personal Windows 10 devices they can access provided by XenApp Corporate supported applications and Windows 7 desktops.
