Cisco and Citrix: Why is this so important partnership -

[1945008?] Blog Entry: Steve Blacklock (@BlacklockSteve) Senior Director, global Strategic Alliances, Citrix

When I present to our customers, they always ask the same question: "Why is it any different alliance of others I know" customers hear about numerous alliances, but really they have heard a good explanation of why a particular alliance is valuable [?

leading strategic alliances in high technology for over 10 years and in many businesses, I have seen many interesting partnerships in the industry. at present, with Cisco and Citrix, we really seems to have created a relationship that is delivering truly innovative solutions for the next generation of computing.

Our alliance continues to drive advanced data center networking and measurable value to clients to capitalize on our unique solutions for mobile workstyles and cloud services. The combination of best IT solutions and networking for Cisco industry with Citrix virtualization technology shows how we continue to build and develop a strong business together. To see a great example of our joint customers realizing the value of virtualization solutions, take a look at how we helped health care providers to improve quality of care and maximize time spent caring for their young patients at Seattle children's hospital.

Together, Cisco and Citrix have expanded our goals to continually provide relevant solutions to our customers with a solution BYOD / Mobility, tried and tested as a design validated Cisco (CVD) from Cisco, integrating Cisco security (ISE) with Citrix management of mobile devices through XenMobile. We also provided Cisco customers with the virtual application Controller device market leader (ADC) on the Cisco Nexus platform for virtual network services now available from Cisco as NetScaler 1000V .

Today we are very happy and proud to be a part of another revolutionary solution and technological innovation with Application Centric Infrastructure or Cisco ACI. Read the details of our technology integrations with Cisco here in the blog Abhishek Chauhan.

For customers already looking for more Cisco and Citrix value today, we also interesting integrations between Nexus and NetScaler currently available following our announcement in June

  • Cisco vpath & NetScaler in Nexus 1000V environments: the vpath technology is a component of the Cisco Nexus 1000V. It is designed to manage the flow of traffic under the control of the policy, providing an insertion order and service on a per-flow, the application by the base application. With native support for vpath, Citrix NetScaler 1000V is fully integrated in these environments
  • NetScaler and Nexus 7000 :. Besides Nexus 7000, NetScaler appliances can directly join the 7000 series switches. Once this fixation is performed, the NetScaler appliances can be managed transparently within the Nexus switch that, if it were an integrated component of the switch. The trunk between the switch and NetScaler carries all the traffic data and control to and from NetScaler, using the advanced path and flow management at the switch. This capability gives customers the benefits of greater resilience, plug and play installations, improved agility, and increased leverage both their switching and ADC investments.

Customers can deploy these integrated offerings today and be confident knowing that there will be a smooth migration path when they want to enjoy the Cisco Centric Infrastructure application.

taking a little further solutions, Citrix and Cisco have joined forces with NetApp to offer even more innovation to meet our common customer challenges.

Cisco recently scored the 3 e anniversary of FlexPod with a blog Marcus Phipps, Senior Manager, Data Center and Cloud marketing detailing Citrix integrations XenDesktop, XenServer and CloudPlatform in response to customer demand.

Citrix responded with a birthday message written by our own Krishna Subramanian, VP Product Marketing Management, Cloud Platform Group, describing the deployment USP while emphasizing our CIO. Breakfast series running with Cisco and NetApp

Seizing technological muscle of the triad, industry analyst Mark Bowker, Enterprise Strategy Group published a blog NetworkWorld: The Power of 3: Citrix Cisco and NetApp Deliver Data Center on the desktop.

This comment goes to show that just when you think that this alliance could produce coolest innovation, we jointly offer another excellent joint technology solution. Just two years into our strategic relationship, I continue to be amazed at what we were able to do so. I can not wait to see what's next ... can you?

v4 AWS CloudFormation Template for XenApp now available -

After some recovery, Paul Wilson and I now are ready to announce the availability of version 4 of our model that AWS CloudFormation comes with quite a few changes to the original versions. The changes were necessary to deal with some of your comments using previous versions, such as using your own AMIs, and not those of Citrix controlled. By default, they use the default AWS. Or, to be able to use different versions of NetScaler. But also to be more in line with CloudFormation templates to the Implementation Guide that comes with XenApp on AWS Reference Architecture, we made available last week, which takes a much more modular approach. When v4 CloudFormation creates a completely autonomous environment XenApp on AWS, the modular approach can be integrated and adapted to many existing infrastructures.

Version 4 of JSON CloudFormation template can be downloaded from here.

for detailed instructions on using the v4.1.5 CloudFormation template, download the installation guide here

This new model introduces some new options :.

  • Ability to select a specific version NetScaler firmware.
by default, we note the release of v10.1-0.13, but you can now point in the XA on AWS CloudFormation template for one of these three URLs will build a NetScaler with the specific firmware version:
  • NetScaler VPX Platinum Edition - 10 mbps version 10.1 to 0.13
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/cf-XenApp/NS_VPX_Template_v4.1.json
  • NetScaler VPX Platinum Edition - 10 mbps version: [1945005101à1197] https://s3.amazonaws.com/cf-XenApp/NS_VPX_Template_v4.json[1945006~~number=plural]
  • NetScaler VPX Platinum Edition - version 10 mbps 10.0 - 71.08.e:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/cf-XenApp/NS_VPX_Template_v3.json
  • public key cryptography used to encrypt and decrypt the default domain and the system administrator passwords. AWS EC2 Console or tools should be used to retrieve these passwords.
  • Ability to set the user name and password for an additional administrator account, instead of using the default administrator account
  • Introduction of a XenApp account administrator that only has access rights in XenApp
  • Option to select the types of instances for different body functions
  • Using a striped volume to support more large amounts of IOs to store applications to XenApp servers in line with our best practices
  • More flexibility in the naming and configuration of DNS and NetBIOS names to use for the field of infrastructure.

using this new model, as before, in a few hours you have built a XenApp farm in your selected area in the AWS cloud using Netscaler and technology StoreFront. You can use the farm for a number of objectives, including:

  • Application Testing
  • Business Continuity testing
  • Proof-of-Concept
  • XenApp performance testing in the cloud
  • Learning to manage AWS resources
for any production deployment, we strongly suggest you check with the place of our XenApp AWS reference architecture and the accompanying implementation guide instead.

We appreciate your comments and suggestions about our new NetScaler StoreFront v4 and activated AWS CloudFormation template for XenApp farm.

CDW Take a book's page on the strategic partnership -

Partnerships are increasingly important in the complex business environment of today. It is more attractive to forge an alliance with another company offering complementary solutions, expertise and geographical or market presence than trying to do and be everything yourself.

Although there are all types of business relationships, a true partnership requires exceptional strategic depth and breadth of engagement, multiple touch points across the two organizations and a vision common success. When CDW, Citrix Large Account Reseller (LAR) with 2012 revenues of $ 10.1 billion and nearly 7,000 employees, the transition from being a traditional hardware and software provider to a full service technology solutions, raised its partnership with Citrix at a strategic level.

in the six years since that time, CDW has demonstrated mastery of the art of partnership. Through experience, investment and dedication, the company has gained a clear understanding of the critical factors that drive successful relationships. Here are top CDW requirements:

  1. shared culture: Both partners must speak the same language with regard to the values and priorities that are most important. For CDW and Citrix, customer-centered is the basis of organizational culture
  2. Multi-level alignment :. Alignment is visible at all levels of the two companies, the executive suite through the field sales organization and annual strategic planning meetings to periodic reviews of pipelines and weekly updates
  3. consistent communication :. The partners decide together what is necessary training, education, marketing and other resources to sell and support a given solution. Accordingly, the commitments of joint customers are optimized because CDW and Citrix share personal messaging, training and sales methodologies
  4. Co-champions :. The adoption and promotion of a technology partner enhances the relationship and provides customers with increased confidence. CDW uses Citrix solutions, Citrix and operates CDW professional services, operational excellence and broad portfolio of solutions offers. When asked by customers, CDW shows its confidence in Citrix solutions by explaining that they are used to manage its activities
  5. equal contributions :. Although partnerships are initiated by pooling resources, each partner must continue its contributions over the long term. The continued expansion of the Citrix portfolio with new and important technologies CDW help strengthen its offer. In return, CDW using Citrix by providing unmatched reach in key vertical and great strength in the SME market.

These principles have helped CDW and Citrix promote a dynamic and successful strategic partnership allows both companies to develop and gain in target sectors, including networking and cloud mobility.
