Schools and other organizations have struggled with the cost and complexity of the implementation of virtual office solutions. One source of these costs and management complexity is the access device used to connect a user to their virtual desktop. The introduction of the Google Chromebook line of products has to meet both the complexity and cost of management.
Google Chromebooks are designed to provide affordable computers that rely on a built-in browser to access applications and data in the cloud. Administration IT perspective, Chromebooks are the ideal access device because there is no local government required the operating system contains a built-in browser, and a minimal amount of malware targeting the Chrome operating system reduces the need for security updates and anti-virus software.
In the past year, the adoption of Chromebooks has increased significantly. In an effort to keep the growing adaptation rate of this technology, Citrix created the HTM5 receiver for Chromebooks and HTML5 enabled browsers to connect to desktops and applications without having to install a native client Citrix.
With VDI-in-a-Box 5.4, we built HTML5 receiver in the device VDI-in-a-Box. The receiver is a part of every 5.4 deployment and there is no need to deploy Storefront to take advantage of the easy access that provides HTML5 receiver.
Receiver Adding HTML5 VDI-in-a-Box offers a genuine experience out-of-the-box, as it allows users to access their Chromebooks desktops and applications directly through their browser Web (Office in a browser). Students can bring their Chromebooks and have access to their desktop VDI-in-a-Box. Administrators can also deploy Chromebooks affordable and manageable for teachers and students as access devices.
When a user connects with a Chromebook page VDI-in-a-Box login, he or she will automatically connect to the HTML5 receptor site and the office will launch in a browser window.
VDI-in-a-Box can detect if the access device needs the HTML5 receiver to connect seamlessly and direct the user there. Users with access devices already have a Citrix client installed can browse to https :. // GridIPAddress / html5 if they wish to use
