@XDtipster - XD7.x Compatibility Modes Explained -

Catalog / Compatibility Mode Delivery Group is a new concept introduced with XD7 allowing essentially we support older ADV 5.x by our support policy (n + 1 / n-1: major versions). a very clean and transparent manner

in XD7.x, delivery Groups can be set to one of two modes defined by the parent catalog and in turn the MinimumFunctionalLevel value returned when running Get-BrokerDesktopGroup via SDK POSH:

XD5 1. compatibility mode (L5). In this mode, some new features of XD7.x are off, VDA 5.x can be used

2. XD7 Mode (L7): All XD7.x features are available, but you must use the 7.x VDA

In the screenshot below, you can see each Deliver Group is running in XD7 fashion:

So what does that mean? Well, if a group of delivery is running L7 mode and a new XD7.x features including support for integration of Storefront pass-through are available.

This is reflected in the user interface with the option available for Storefront L7 Groups Mode of delivery only .

Storefront integration is simply not supported with 5.x VDA and so admins instead of confusion with the visible option (s) that are not even supported, we decided n display that is. supported

change the mode of a specific delivery group, you can use the following command Compatability:

final notes:

1.L7 mode is the default for all new manually XD7.x catalogs created unless the option in next highlight is selected when creating the catalog. By selecting the option below group of delivery created from this catalog will be L5 (compatibility mode XD5):

2.VDA 5.6 is available on the installation media for XD7.x for purposes of support and inheritance can be found in the following location:

x64 Setup XP XenDesktop

x86 Setup XP XenDesktop

Note: XD7.x the meta-installer will recognize that runs on XP or Vista, and provide the correct installation VDA ...

3. When the upgrade to XD5.x XD7.x VDA Version installed on machines is unknown, so the security option is taken and groups / delivery of existing catalog are set L5 mode. The " upgrade Catalogue option" see below simply changes the flag discussed above is MinimumFunctionalLevel in XenDesktop L5 L7 fashion:
