Addressing the increasing geographical spread of the modern workforce and strong demand for real-time collaboration. Citrix and Dell have developed a reference architecture to meet this demand of the industry and show how common solutions to improve the productivity of the workforce by allowing employees in different physical locations to communicate "in person "through conversations face-to-face on the live video, audio chat and instant messaging. This common reference architecture details the partners in the process and solutions they need to help their customers deliver the efficiency and control of resources, while offering simplified management, security, collaboration and optimization of delivery office.
In order to facilitate effective collaboration, implementation of Microsoft Lync for unified communications is essential. Lync provides instant messaging (IM), application sharing, audio / video / web conferencing and VoIP telephony. It can help companies reduce travel costs and mobile phone to the lower operating budgets, while increasing communication and creativity among key employees and stakeholders.
The reference architecture defines the architecture requirements and technical equipment of the solution, consider the design constraints, examine relevant risks, issues, assumptions and concessions; and provides a design solution, scaling and components in relation to the provision Lync 2010 applications in a Citrix XenDesktop environment.
The reference architecture includes performance tests for Lync 2010 client applications running in a virtual desktop environment XenDesktop 5.6. Dell PowerEdge servers host the XenDesktop virtual desktop and application services and infrastructure. Customer thin devices Wyse serve endpoints.
