One of the most common questions that I asked for Citrix VDI-acquired in- at! Box is how do we manage migration VDI-in-a-Box to XenDesktop. While a license migration path exists from the beginning, the migration of the software itself was a very manual process.
Whereas VDI-in-a-Box is a Linux device, XenDesktop and is installed on a Windows server OS, there were certainly many challenges when considering a migration from one to the other, but for those who have already upgraded to the latest version of VDI-in-a-Box, you may have noticed a new icon sitting on your admin tab called "migrate to Citrix studio."
administrators with VDI-in-a-Box 5.4, we enabled a wizard driven interface to assist in the migration of deploying VDI-in-a-Box to XenDesktop. This wizard will export part or all of the VDI-in-a-Box or images for use in deploying XenDesktop and generate PowerShell scripts to create catalogs of machines and groups in Citrix Delivery Studio that matches the model parameters and assignments of users in VDI-in-a-Box environment.
This new feature enables VDI-in-a-Box administrators to develop their environment seamlessly to meet their needs without the worry of having to completely rip their existing environment and start from zero.
VDI-in-a-Box customers can download version 5.4 now the Citrix Product Download page. Anyone can try the new version by downloading the free trial version. Documentation available on Citrix eDocs. And you can always go to support portal VDI-in-a-Box for all technical information VDI-in-a-Box.
