How long is the use of mobile data is actually growing (not just forecasts), and how is it different one once LTE networks are deployed? I thought I share some recently reported numbers of different operators all over the world (from the GSMA Wireless Intelligence database)
- Mobistar in Belgium reported in July that data traffic mobile has tripled in the year ended June 2013.
- Vodacom in South Africa said in July that customers use on average 75% more data per device for the quarter ended June 2013 there is year.
- KPN in the Netherlands said in July that in Q2 2013 there were 80% more data usage on LTE as 3G
- Japan reported that in August the smartphone by data traffic is approximately 30 times greater than that of a feature phone.
- Cricket in the United States reported in August that the use of data for their LTE customers was about 2x that of 3G customers.
- Idea Cellular in India reported in August that the growing volume of data has exploded at a rate of 92.2% per year.
- AT & T Mobility in the United States reported in July that the use of the device by increased smartphone data annually by 50% in Q2 2013.
- Zain South Sudan reported in June that the data traffic on the mobile broadband network increased by 176% per year by the end of Q1 2013.
- Verizon in the United States reported in June that 59% of Wireless data traffic runs on Verizon's LTE network.
- China Mobile reported in August 2013 that wireless data traffic increased 129% in 2013 Q2, over the same period last year.
