Preserving the native experience of the mobile device while delivering any application to any device -

There has been a month since the release of XenMobile and Mobile Solutions Bundle and in the last month the number of customer conversations that focus on mobility has exploded! In the Citrix Executive Briefing Center, the summit called for the subject of our largest, most strategic customers is now mobility. Now I do a lot of these customers briefings, as well as our press releases and analyst briefings, and as everyone I speak is very excited about Citrix mobility solutions and the direction we are going there is a point that is often misunderstood because of the rich history that has Citrix provide virtualized applications from the data center. So I am here to set the record straight:

Citrix provides native mobile applications directly to mobile devices ... and these applications are installed on the device and can be executed in fashion offline

Ok, so let me now take a step back and explain. For about 5 years, Citrix Receiver was the mechanism for IT departments to provide their users with access to applications and Windows desktops on any device - applications that would not otherwise have had access to platforms non-Windows. This unique application, available on more than 3B devices, allows users to select themselves all Windows applications they need and have instant access to these applications to do their work. And as a testament to its success, Citrix Receiver has won numerous awards for providing this productivity to users everywhere. The advantage is unparalled access to applications from any device, but the downside is that you need a constant Internet connection and XenApp to publish applications.

Figure 1 - Apps via Receiver Then when CloudGateway was published last year, Citrix has created a solution that delivered the best of both worlds. Let me explain why. With CloudGateway we added comprehensive capabilities mobile management to offer native mobile apps (iOS, Android and HTML5) for mobile devices. This means that Citrix provides access to more than just access to Windows applications - we can supply all your native mobile apps for mobile devices (See Figure 1 for how to j use Citrix Receiver to my iPad to access my self-selected Windows, web and mobile applications like SalesForce and Outlook) . But if you're like most people I told you, you're probably thinking, "what my users open the receiver to get access to their mobile applications?" In short, the answer is No.

Figure 2 - Apps via Springboard Citrix Receiver is the unified app store, which enable users to choose for themselves all the applications they need to do their job. These applications can be Windows (if a client XenApp) or web, SaaS or native mobile (if a CloudGateway or XenMobile MDM client). For users that self select mobile applications, applications will be delivered directly to the mobile device and installed like any other native mobile application. When users want to access their mobile applications, they can go directly to their platform and open these applications. (See Figure 2 for how to access all of my business mobile applications that I self-selected via a receiver. Notice, they are all installed on my device and accessible via my springboard for easy access) .

IT still wants to provide security for the delivery of mobile applications for users, especially since the majority of business mobile applications are delivered to users' personal devices. Given this, it wants to be able to set policies around the use of the application and the policies applied directly on the device. That's where Citrix Receiver comes into play - it is the broker of political background. When IT encapsulates a mobile application for distribution to a user's device, it can set a variety of policies around the use of this application. For example, app_1 can operate on devices that are not jailbroken, App_2 can only work on a WiFi network and not a 3G / 4G, and the actions of copy / paste should be disabled when using App_3 sensitve data as used in this application. These policies are enforced by Citrix Receiver. This means that the launch of a mobile application, it will make a receiver with check to make sure it is "allowed" to run - if it meets the policy, the application will work; if it does not, the receiver prevents the application from running. It's easy - applications that are guaranteed by the political will of Reciever get approval to run; applications without any security policy will run receptor interactions. But it is important to remember that the receiver is not the access method in this scenario - current applications running natively available online and offline; it is just to play the role of the executor.

It is that simple. So next time someone asks you what the receiver of role play, you can specify. Citrix provides absolutely native mobile apps and other Windows, web, SaaS and data center applications that are not normally available on all their devices. And yes, Citrix Receiver is a big part of that value chain delivery. But it is important to remember that Citrix Receiver is transparent to users when access to mobile applications. Direct access to mobile applications of the device is that users expect and exactly what Citrix delivers.
