Apple and Google users could be attackable -

security flaw known as the "FREAK Attack" was found in the Apple and Google devices, it becomes obvious while users surf the net. research experts have pinned the blame on an old policy of ten years, which has long since changed. The policy of the United States has required manufacturers to release the weaker encryption systems when sold abroad, which was apparently due to national security concerns. Apple and Google could be open to attacks when browsing popular websites on their devices that accept weaker encryption. Hackers would also be able to cheat the system by accepting the older software.

Hackers could use this vulnerability to fall into obsolete users when they are entering sensitive information like passwords or bank details. Security experts estimate that the number of sensitive sites to this kind of attack is as high as a third of all encrypted sites. The weakness is said to affect Apple's own Safari and the browser built on Google Android software, but those who use Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox are safe.

The FREAK attack, technically named Factoring Attack on RSA-EXPORT Keys, has been partly blamed on dangerous government policies that contradict their own initial uses. Requiring encryption weakening, even for security reasons, will only be beneficial for hackers. In response to the revelations, both Google and Apple have announced immediate plans to solve the problem with Apple to deploy the software update in the week and Google have already established as an update for carriers and device manufacturers.
