an extension of the hacking group Anonymous, the "hacktivist" have announced that they plan to release more than 1,000 identities of the group of white supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan. In an ongoing operation against the group, Anonymous announced the decision through their Twitter account, which will mark the first anniversary since the attack on the KKK started. In what began as a response to the Ku Klux Klan, after a grand jury found Darren Wilson police officer innocent of the murder of Michael Brown August in Ferguson, Missouri. The KKK has sent leaflets across the city threatening violence to any person to protest against the court decision. Among the threats was a warning that they would "wake up a sleeping giant." In a direct response to threats Anonymous launched an attack on the group, and began by taking control of the official Twitter page of the Ku Klux Klan.
Anonymous has done a check on the Twitter account and has recently taken to reveal a new attack, shouting that they never said they will strike again. They proceeded to target KKK affiliated websites and DDoS wild (distributed denial of service) attacks, making them inaccessible. Soon after, they found a number of identities of members of the KKK, and will soon be even more members.
The Ku Klux Klan is one of the oldest American hate groups and was founded after the Civil War, and the popularity of height, it boasted more than four million members, but today the group has decreased to about 5,000 to 8,000 members. Anonymous plans to reveal the identity of the anniversary of the first attack later this month.
