According to Wikipedia, censorship is " suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered as unacceptable, harmful, sensitive, or annoying to the general body of people as determined by a government, media, or other controlling body ".
Meta-censorship is another form of censorship in which no information on the existence of censorship and the legal basis for censorship is censored, the rules censorship are classified, and the deleted texts or phrases are not marked.
Internet censorship as a form of censorship is still being researched. It varies greatly depending on the country, culture and context, and can range from child pornography to the game, and the censorship of dissident content.
Although the motivations of Internet censorship differ from country to country, Cohen (1997) identifies a number of common concerns in many countries that lead to censorship, namely:
- national security (weapons of the decision, illegal drugs and protection against terrorism)
- protection of minors (abuse, forms of marketing, violence and pornography)
- the protection of human dignity (incitement to hatred or racial discrimination)
- economic security (fraud, hacking credit cards)
- security information (malicious hacking)
- protection of privacy (unauthorized communication of personalized data, electronic harassment, spamming)
- protection of reputation (libel, unlawful comparative advertising)
- intellectual property (unauthorized distribution of copyrighted works such as music, software, books, etc.)
