server activity IPVanish: leave Russia Add UK, Australia -

After the latest news from Russia regarding their "anti- terrorist "or pro-espionage and surveillance, legislation, first it was the private access to Internet with their servers seized leading to their leaving their Russian presence.

On July 12, IPVanish stopped offering servers in Russia too. Never content to give their customers unless they have since added new servers. Let's see what happens.

Russian server problem and the law

IPVanish announced on their blog July 12 they completed their support of the Russian server. Considering the current climate in Russia has been a movement to protect their users because they would have been forced to hand: russian flag

  • Personal user information (name, IP address ( es), account information)
  • user activity (data transfers, browser history, login timestamps)
  • user Content communications
  • decrypting data on request

for a VPN policy with a strong non-forest use, consistent with what all would not be appropriate for their business. Not only would it have been a bad business decision to stay, but it would be in direct conflict with the heart of their business: Protecting the privacy of their customers

With new laws Russia I would not be surprised if you see more VPN completely abandon their servers in Russia. There would be little benefit to anyone in or outside Russia to use.

New servers keep growing IPVanish

That news was a bit negative, but IPVanish announced to me by email that they are still growing, despite this setback in Russia. For the number of already impressive servers, they added: arrow pointing up

  • 10 new servers in the UK
  • 10 new server in Australia
  • 3 new servers in new Zealand

These growing markets, especially with endemic censorship in the UK, and how the monitoring is more in Australia, need more servers and IPVanish takes care of their customers

This brings their current accounts of the VPN server :.

  • 552 servers in total
  • 46 servers in the UK
  • 41 servers in Australia
  • 3 servers in New Zealand

Having twice as many servers in New Zealand will do wonders for those in this country in terms of fast and available servers.

Despite setbacks IPVanish keep on growing

With countries like Russia adopting repressive surveillance laws, VPN providers will have to continue to grow in countries that allow their businesses to function. These companies you and me, ordinary people with security awareness increased in line to protect from all types of threats and risks.

IPVanish protected their users at once to leave Russia, and by adding servers in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Needless to say they are our # 1 ranked overall VPN, and in a number of categories.
