A Tale of Two Consultants -

It is the best of all time, it was the worst time ...

Actually, it is the best time for @CitrixPartners ,

This is the story of two consulting companies. One is a Citrix Solutions Advisor ( Xena Systems ) and the other ( Legacy Consultants ), well, it's not. You see, back to Microsoft World Partner Conference, announced Citrix that we would

Xena Warrior Princess

AppDNA offer FREE CSA -Partner for use in Windows 10 migration projects. This is free for one year, so they up to Windows 10 up to 0% faster with AppDNA application analysis, and effort reporting package can get their customers automation.

"You get what you pay for?"

we consider it look like this. We have our two consulting firms-Xena Systems and Legacy Consultants bid for migration projects. And for sake of argument, let's say that these two projects are similar. Both are for large corporate organization in Midtown Manhattan. Both are customers in the financial services industry are. And both clients are 1000 Application to the latest version of Windows to migrate Windows 10 .

Legacy Consultants commands her migration project for $ 500,000 and in an area where the project for 6 months. They plan two engineers with a test lab in a customer meeting rooms, stand up and install and test each application manually, as they always have. The engineers are expected per day to do each 3 applications. After each application against all known Windows image installed the client is used in the production, they need to test the application to ensure that when it is started does not come with a system driver, DLL conflicts, or a dependency applications have. [Now

, as you may know, is a good engineers are not cheap (I have already mentioned). Legacy Consultants has a fully burdened cost for each engineer of $ 100 per hour. This includes what the engineer is paid, plus tax, insurance and much more. Plus Legacy Consultants often air waste engineers from other places, so in the course of 6 months they may apply even travel expenses. Although, they encourage their engineers at Taco Bell to eat, which makes this conference room use in a hazardous environment and test lab.

And you, intrepid readers already have an error in Legacy plan. 3 applications per day and 6 engineering apps per day. And with 1,000 apps it will take 166 working days to finish the project. With 20 working days per month, which is actually more than 8 months for this project (assuming everything goes smoothly). And at $ 100 per hour or 0 for both $ per hour is $ 1,0 a day. And at 166 days yes, you guessed it, that's in the works $ 265,0 straight. I'm only half the project in T & E factor, because I have some of the local engineers will take over. Let's make some simple and say $ 2,000 per week corresponds to about 4 months, again per engineer total $ 64,000.

is so Legacy profit margin for this application migration project ...... $ 170,400

Higher margins and more satisfied customers? Yes, please!

Now, on the other hand, Xena Systems Bids for a similar project in the same quote of $ 500,000. But Xena is a CSA and uses her free AppDNA usage rights to analyze the application library. Xena has the same fully loaded cost of $ 100 per hour per engineer. But because the engineer AppDNA uses only require an engineer. And with 1,000 applications, the only engineer the app compat in only 5 days can make. This is from the landing, Setup, Import and analysis. Of course, this is due to the size of the applications is dependent on the SQL Server-speed, network speed, etc.

at the end of the 5-day app compat project So what is Xena cost? $ 800 per day for the engineer over 5 days is only $ 4000. And know what? I will add in Travel & expenses Xena . 1 week in Midtown with a steak dinner or 2, let's say, $ 00 (the client was so happy that she bought dinner). And add in the cost of AppDNA at $ 0.00 ( FREE ) and Xena now costs $ 00th

So Xena profit margin for this project is ...... .. $ 494,000 USD

Now we want to keep a few things in mind. At the end of the project, Xena the AppDNA database needs to remove and log files unless the customer XenApp or XenDesktop Platinum possesses. Of course, since AppDNA is used throughout the entire app lifecycle Xena customer want to test any future software updates or patches with AppDNA before they deploy. No one wants to be the New York Stock Exchange on July 8, 2015

Author Charles Dickens

I do not think Charles Dickens was talking about @CitrixPartners when he said, "No one is in this world, the further lightens the burden of other people useless ", but because of how these partners ease the burden of IT for their clients? He could have been safe.
