Citrix Partner Uproar "XenServer 6.2 is now a fully open source" -

On June 25, Citrix announced the next step in its strategy to stimulate the development of open architecture source. The XenServer 6.2 virtualization platform is the first XenServer offers to deliver, complete open source software available for free. Citrix will sell the commercially supported version that includes software maintenance (Premier Support and Subscription Advantage).

XenServer 6.2 is now a simple product that is easier to sell to more customers! Here's what's new:

• Simple, per-socket licensing available as a perpetual or annual license in a single edition XenServer
• Improved integrating Citrix XenDesktop , including faster desktop connections, new alerts office manager for scarce resources and preventive actions to avoid hosting downtime
• platform improvements that offer performance, scalability and higher density workload
• Windows 8 and Windows 2012 support to allow greater server consolidation and to support more use cases
