Access Gateway is a secure remote access product and therefore tends to be the starting point for the input of business users wanting access their corporate applications and desktops. Given this, it makes sense for companies to try to customize the logon experience Access Gateway to match their brand and feel.
Access Gateway has always allowed for this customization, however, there was a bit of a tedious process. With the new version of 10.0.71.6014.e, we make an attempt to simplify this experience
UI customization on Access Gateway is a multi-step process :.
- Go to the built in theme web pages and customize them to meet the needs of companies
- Apply the modified theme (web page collection) in the right place
- change some scripts to do this persistent change
- Whenever the firmware must be upgraded, make a backup copy of customized pages and scripts and re-apply the same after the update level.

With this new version, we have automated all the other steps (eg 2-4) to you. Instead of having to worry about how to apply this theme, or having to take backups every time you update, the new version will automatically handle this for you.
To see the new offer in this version, simply go to Access Gateway -> Global Settings -> Edit Global Settings -> Customer Experience
As can be seen in the screenshot above screen, the combo UI Theme essentially gives three options:
- default - Apply the Theme by Citrix default
- green Bubble - Apply the Citrix Receiver green Bubble Theme
- custom - This is an interesting. As I mentioned earlier, once you have created your custom theme, you can copy it to / var / ns_gui_custom / folder. Then set the Custom Theme UI above, and you're done.
So you see how simple the whole process has become.
Note that the user interface theme is applied at a global level, and is therefore applicable on all vservers hosting you on the device. Future versions of Access Gateway intend to make them available at individual vServer.
