Liberate your users, not your data

Liberate your users, not your data -

Just before Citrix acquired Zenprise, we held our Customer Advisory Board meeting. With CIOs from hospitals to restaurants entertainment around our table, we heard their goals and challenges firsthand. In the forums as there always emerge one or two group galvanizing issues. This year it was the "problem Dropbox".

No wonder. In short, Dropbox (and other synchronization tools and file sharing consumer-oriented) is simultaneously awesomely helpful and incredibly risky. Just look at our enterprise mobility cloud report: Dropbox is among the best applications organizations are available to the users and it is also one of the highest they blacklist. They can not decide! But the people of conscious IT security know that if Dropbox is on user devices, business data has already fled. Every single document stored on Dropbox is likely to be shared on an endless tapestry of connected cloud parameters. IT wants to release their users, not their data!

What is surprising is universal agreement that "if we can provide a safe alternative, users go for it." Say what? I find that to be an incredible statement. Since when (at least recent years) he was able to reign in the user and to prescribe this type of productivity applications they will use?

But once I'm on my hands dirty Citrix ShareFile, I got it. it is the analogue of the company to Dropbox, but without ulcers and sleep deprivation to know your sensitive data is on your business with each synchronization of the user. I get my content where i want, and it gets its control and governance over where the data goes (and the audit trail that goes with it!).

There is no wonder that Citrix was one of three suppliers to receive a "strong positive" rating in the Gartner MarketScope for enterprise and sync Sharing¹. With the story of a strong integration of ShareFile, reported to time and responsiveness, and the long-term viability of Citrix, the product is a great fit for the need, in my opinion. Heck, I even replaced my system completely "other" file with ShareFile.

But what is really cool for my clients (I'll return to every customer of this meeting to tell them about it!) Is that not only now have a viable alternative they were talking about, but it is integrated into the Citrix portfolio, especially the optimized moving parts. You want to attach a file directly from your secure email? ShareFile. You want to offer a preso right from your iPad using GoToMeeting? ShareFile. You want to update your status Podio project on the go with the latest documentation? ShareFile. It is not only a synchronization tool and sharing cool for my clients; it is to solve a real need - freeing users to get the content they need everywhere, but not to release sensitive company data. It is the protection of their business and make life better for users. I'm excited, and I know my clients will be mobile too!
