Proactive Performance Monitoring of Citrix XenServer and NVIDIA Grid infrastructures -

With today's modern large compute, network and storage infrastructures, rarely do we only talk about what product or even a single vendor solution being able to face many challenges to solve. One important area that the Citrix Converged Infrastructure team is significant engineering effort in the hypervisor level, especially to its features, performance and scalability.

The concentration for a moment on application and desktop virtualization use cases from the [Citrix XenServer] hypervisor perspective, there is much we can do increased value to drive infrastructure projects for customers.

The Converged Infrastructure Group has been very busy this year making great strides in this with many new features and performance enhancements and scalability in the v6.5 release January and more recently with the SP1 version May, the additional new contains functions.

In addition, NVIDIA GPU pass-through for Linux and Intel GVT-d, GPU pass-through for Windows now also configurations are supported. The Intel GVT-d support is particularly interesting, as there is no additional hardware with embedded GPUs enables enhanced graphics for virtualized applications and desktops is required.

The greater increase in scale and course-performance and improved graphics capabilities to a growing number of consumers-there is the need for IT infrastructure and its like all aspects of the infrastructure of computing to storage and networking to graphics perform together and inter-dependent. Citrix XenServer provides some of these vital monitoring and reporting, either in the tab XenCenter performance (with host & VM levels) or the workload Appliance Balancing feature; However, for larger and more complex infrastructure, customers should a single performance monitoring and reporting solution, which includes not only the hypervisor level, but also in other areas of infrastructure, such as applications and desktops (XenApp & XenDesktop) and application delivery controller & load balancer (NetScaler).

Enter Citrix Ready Partner Goliath Technologies, and the latest version of Goliath Performance Monitor 11.0.

Published June 24, 2015, uses XenServer v6.5 bring real-time insight into the NVIDIA GRID, storage performance and XenServer resource provisioning in a console.

to a customer scenario where an IT administrator to monitor the infrastructure to a is relative application or desktop virtualization performance problem and the HDX / HDX 3D in use. After entire stack visibility across multiple products, including the ability to track any GRID cards "GPU and memory resources will be used, and then be able to correlate these terms to see with each user session, which VM or VDI consumes resources is incredibly useful

Key include proactively and in real time troubleshooting capabilities.

  • NVIDIA GRID GPU & vgpu performance trends, alerting and reporting, including CPU, memory, power, and temperature
  • storage performance trending, alerting and dashboards: IOPs, latency, I / O wait, and throughput
  • XenServer host and computational load VM, storage, network and latency
  • Citrix XenApp and XenDesk end user per session and application

Citrix application and desktop virtualization solutions scale to be even the largest customer infrastructure and performance requirements. With Citrix XenServer and Goliath performance monitoring, customers can proactively monitor the performance of the existing infrastructure layers, now including their NVIDIA GRID sessions.
