Upgrading to Linux VDA Version 1.1 -

The following instructions explain how to upgrade from an earlier version of Linux VDA to the latest version 1.1 version. The steps vary depending on whether you are upgrading from the Tech Preview or version 1.0, but both are relatively simple.

The upgrade from Version 1.0

For an upgrade from version 1.0, you simply install the new RPM package with the upgrade option on the rpm utility:

rpm -U XenDesktopVDA-1.1.0.240-0.x86_64. rpm

You will notice in the screenshot above that the reported version number does not match the version specified in the rPM file name information. This can be safely ignored. The message is incorrectly 1.0 RPM printed by the version as it is removed

You can confirm that the VDA has updated indeed to version 1.1 by querying the package version with the following command .:

rpm -q XenDesktopVDA

All that remains your settings to the new version is to run the configuration script to migrate:

ctxsetup.sh

the script will recognize that you have upgraded and none of the questions it would on a fresh install.

that the HDX and VDA services should now be up and running again. You can do this by confirming:

Service ctxvda status

Service ctxhdx status

The upgrade of the Tech Preview

We do not support an upgrade from the tech preview version to a production release of the Linux VDA. The RPM tool prevents you is not installing from this experiment, but the resulting not work. The only way to install to upgrade from a Tech Preview is, uninstall the old version first:

rpm -e XenDesktopVDA

Now you can use the new package install

rpm -i XenDesktopVDA-1.1.0.240-0.x86_64.rpm

Since this is a new installation, the configuration script must be executed:

ctxsetup.sh

Once the script you finished confirm launched the HDX and VDA services that have:

service ctxvda status

service ctxhdx status

Now that you have installed a production version of Linux VDA, will work the normal RPM upgrade process for you is forward.
