Invitation to test a utility to convert a physical computer to a personal vDisk desktop? -

What is the purpose of you is a utility that allows you to take your current desktop and convert it to a virtual office ... while allowing personal virtual desktop to be based on a shared master image? As many of you know, the personal vDisk machines allow a user to change their desktop as if it were their own personal office. All the while the administrator is able to manage all these different personal workstations via a single master image.

But to get a user to adopt such an office, how the administrator obtain current user desktop in the virtual desktops? Ask the user to redo everything? Well, it is better to just give a utility the user to operate on the current workstation. And once connected to their virtual desktops, run once again for all their data back.

The result will be all the applications and custom data on the physical desktop of the user will be brought to this virtual desktop. BUT not the common operating system related files. Only unique data to the user ... aka applications and data to the user added to their Win7 desktop.

Below is a link to a migration utility that is based on a concept that we have to play with the Personal vDisk team here. Download it and give it a test. Let us know how it worked for you ... anything is missed during the conversion? Let us know the usefulness of such a tool would be for you in the day-day operations as well as migration in general. It is a concept utility intended only for testing beta so please do not use it without first backing up the system or on a system that is disposable (granted the conversion process is non-destructive, but better be safe than sorry).

This utility is just a prototype around the concept of taking Win7 SP1 physical desktops from a user (this works for Win7 SP1) and simply typing "things" of the user, then placing that "things" in a PvD permit office in XenDesktop. in the download are also an overview and PPT guide that covers the basic concepts and mechanisms. Any and all comments on this prototype is needed - both comments and technical affairs applicability
