After a series of attacks left the entire country of Turkey reeling from cyber attacks, it was revealed that Anonymous took credit for cyber attacks on Turkey. The attacks took place earlier this month because it caused outages for hundreds of thousands of Turkish sites. DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks crippled the many websites that hackers bombarded websites with fake traffic, causing them too much stress and stopped them from working.

The hacktivist group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for the attack, after threatening Turkey to a cyber attack as they issued a statement saying their intentions. The group released a statement on its YouTube channel; "Dear government of Turkey, if you do not stop supporting ISIS, we will continue to attack your Internet." And that's exactly what Anonymous has done, as they claim that Turkey plays a role in the ISIS funding and to support them.

the attack, which left 400,000 websites down in Turkey, started earlier this month and lasted over a week. the result was that the Turkish government having to cut all foreign Internet traffic to access .tr websites, domain for Turkey to smother the attack.
