A Beginners Guide to Net Neutrality -

With the Internet is full of neutrality debate in advance (26 February 2015) the vote tomorrow on net neutrality the United States, it is important for those who don 't know how to get up to speed

to exit the Internet and show you simile real world. Imagine if your TV only worked with one cable provider, and you have no choice depending on your TV shows that you might look. Right now, you can buy a TV, plug it into the wall, and choose how you want to connect. - Cable, satellite, even rabbit ears, and which vendor will sell you this service

When it comes to the Internet, neutrality has a huge impact on how you can get the timely information. This applies to both the speed with which you can access that data, and how easy it is to find.

Point neutrality net rattling

Right now there are two teams going head-to-head on net neutrality:

  1. Those who use the Internet as it is now - the mostly free for anyone to access a Web site, which allows not to gatekeeper status of companies on anything and users are free to access from any supplier
  2. culture Walled Garden -. you only have access to information and websites provided to you by the company you sign with. You Walled in a game structure that you can access with a wealth of information to the outside.

As you can guess, companies like option two, and they lobbied for it constantly. This is essentially what the FCC will vote -. If the net can remain neutral, or if companies can exercise control over it directly

Corporate philosophy garden explained

net neutrality on iphone to think the garden in practice, it's like going to a laundromat and only be allowed to use their soap ... unless you pay to use soap you brought. This greatly benefits the laundromat that you either have to pay for their soap, or you have to pay to use your own soap - you've already paid elsewhere

in the jargon of the business, you can ' call '. vertical tying it has been done in a number of other industries, and yes they are already climbing the wall with taxes and restrictions. Being sold a mobile phone and have it locked to one carrier is one that most people know only too well. Remember that the first iPhone was tied to AT & T, and that the origin of cases of justice for violations of the law rust.

This example was more just a little old smartphone, imagine now apply it to the Internet WHOLE. Ya.

Why ignore net neutrality is bad

Essentially, whenever you want to access another part of the Internet, would you get a contract with a new supplier. And I'm not talking in hypotheticals here, because they are already trying to push it through under your nose. Your ISP is a company with something to gain in the debate on net neutrality, and they are already strangling your Netflix speeds.

It is also one of the reasons why more and more people enroll for VPN, particularly those circumventing geoblocks that are part of net neutrality issues. They allow you to move geo-blocking, a restrictive practice nationally that censors the Internet. My friends in the UK, thinking that their country is free and open, will be shocked to know that they have up to 20% of their Internet access blocked!

If this act is carried to the extreme, you have to subscribe to an Internet service provider for general use of the Internet, and another for your Netflix. You want to switch between them depending on which you want to use - and nowhere there does earn you time, money, or add convenience. All you do is pay more money for the same service.

What is the future of net neutrality

Today, I'm following and developments and this is very good news for my American friends:

it looks like net neutrality is about to become law in the United States, but there is a big world there still needs to be defended against those who will try to tell us they are doing us a favor when they remove neutrality.

every time this debate happens, I want you to think about what it would be like if you were to buy a new TV every time you want to change the cable provider. Watch this video if you're the visual type:
