Out with the old: Driving Relevant services as a hosting service provider -

I have in Europe in the world to visit some of the largest telephone companies. I have a common thread found drawn between this great service, and it is the paradox they are facing in terms of their livelihoods.

In most cases, they will have tremendous brand awareness. Their range is phenomenal (millions of subscribers service) and they have more network capacity than each company could imagine.

So what is the dichotomy?

Believe it or not, it is Service . You see most of these big service companies grew around the simple premise that the network was service. As long as its subscribers could "access" network, they had relevance.

no longer

.

networking without applications and data can be seen as a raw material Services

The network is synonymous these days with goods. Commodity Services have only one value: Price. And because the price of these services falls, so does the ability to reach margin. This is widely used in large service provider advertising. Get bandwidth 'X' 'Y' price.

Throughout the world, this seems to be the value to be proposition. But while savvy business customers-especially the small / medium business (SMB) segment looking applications and data services, networks (and bandwidth for less) are an afterthought.

SMBs services want that are relevant to their business. You want to step up service and deliver. For it is not only relevance access or bandwidth, but real business applications.

I took this photo while I was in London. In the foreground of the Tower of London, which dates back several centuries. It was the center of the United Kingdom in its hay-day. Now, it houses the Crown Jewels and is primarily a tourist attraction. What once was relevant, is now nothing more than a bit of antiquity; only a memory.

It reminded me that the world is changing and with it the importance of relevancy.

In the background you can see a structure climbing into the sky, as if its meaning cry for. It is the splitter, a 1,016 foot landmark in the center of London, built for the companies of the 21 st century, it is the tallest building in the EU.

business flow tenancy to have there because of its fascination, its meaning. What a great reminder of change.

As service providers offer more relevant?

We have in history not look too far back to see what kind of company, the relevance lacking happen.

Wang, DEC and Sun Microsystems are examples of large technology companies, the mementos of ancient times. In the service provider market, we have seen some of this consolidation. So whatever happened to Pacific Bell or Bell South? Do they also mementos of antiquity?

So what is to do a phone company?

What is to connect with the hundreds of smaller Citrix Service Provider, the applications and data exchange solutions for hundreds of thousands of subscribers? Probably a good idea.

Take, for example, Digicel, AT & T or TeliaSonera. You have taken the first step in the pushback toward relevance for the SMB. Over bandwidth or network, they have chosen to provide services that are actually relevant to their business customers. Who will be next? We have to wait and see.

One thing is certain ... Citrix these services is made possible, and our Citrix Service Provider support to remain relevant. Want to know more? Why learn no more and gain value by being the Citrix Service Provider Program member today?
