You will be pleased that the Citrix Profile management was integrated into the Excalibur Technology Preview - including installation, configuration and management. This includes the ability to configure the Citrix Profile management (and even Microsoft folder redirection) all within Studio using the Citrix policy engine.
First, you will notice an integrated installation. When installing the VDA, the Profile Management service will be installed as well. He will sit idle if not activated (for when you use a third-profile solution), but there will now be ready for use without the need for additional or separate installation. Although you may not need to manage your profiles, it will still offer capabilities, you will certainly find useful. For example in Director, you will now find the ability to reset user profiles from this console. This includes resets for Microsoft roaming profiles and Citrix profiles.
Regarding the configuration, we now offer a third option. Besides using INI or AD Group Policy, you now have a new option via the Citrix policy engine. For customers who do not have AD delegate or choose not to manage GPOs in AD, you can use the Citrix policy engine to configure and manage the Citrix Profile Management. This allows you to manage completely manage a profile from studio and not have to touch any of AD.
Another new feature to be introduced Citrix Profile management is the ability to provide mandatory profiles. Similar to Microsoft mandatory profiles, these profiles can be shared between users and the changes will not be saved, but discarded at logoff. And of course, all this is set in Studio and assigned to your delivery groups if necessary.
