Government Case Study: Social Worker -

As a Sales Engineer to cover state and local government agencies in the United States, Central (13 countries total) I had the opportunity to see trends in government verticals, which state, county and city lines

hold true with these trends, I have a number of SLG decided to create case studies with Citrix to what accomplish agencies currently looks. to allow, with the aim of other government agencies for these examples are used as a template on how to follow a similar approach to solve their current challenges.

For Case Study # 1, I will talk about social services units such as human services, child and family services and hospitals.

are focused from an end user point of view, we are looking to government employees as social workers, clerks and health care personnel who need quick to access information from the field, to develop programs and operate the lead directly to taxpayer benefits such as employment, welfare, an independent life and the safety of children. When agencies work with Social Services, it is important to remember that the way in which data is confidential in the first place, a solution mandating that holds the data securely in a central location, but also with the field workers requiring mobility to collaborate effectively with their patients and customers.

Let's start with social workers.

Often social workers are hampered make home visits by remote access restrictions while (for example) with children in poor or troubled families or disabled war veterans to work. This type of remote working is very common, whether it is to visit patients at home, in hospitals or community centers for social workers. In these scenarios, social workers have forms they need to fill documents, provides in patient records and case notes from previous visits. These forms are are usually associated with a specific set of applications to manage all this data, that is, the social worker takes handwritten notes and then later the input if they are in the office back. This increases the travel time and reduces data entry efficiency, can with their clients actually spend the time to limit officers. And what if they save notes instead on her laptop, and it lost or stolen? The confidential patient data is now lost, which leads to liability issues when it lands in the hands of the wrong person

application Citrix :. Secure remote access to applications with XenApp and NetScaler [1945012[

While there are other products used on the basis of agency requirements (XenDesktop, XenMobile, Share File), the most common solution that I used in execution XenApp to allow case management applications to virtualize social worker input patient use data in real time using a laptop or tablet while traveling.

  • applications are hosted on an application server and run in the data center resident, which ensures that no data ever leaves the data center and data loss prevented even if the device is lost or stolen.
  • In addition, NetScaler is used to enable this traffic and authenticate users for secure remote access to these applications, which often increase with two-factor authentication for the security.

For a concrete example, I am currently working with a Department of Human Services Agency that a XenApp and NetScaler solution successfully implemented, to deliver a homegrown social services apply to all counties in their state is designed. Not only do they. Be able to centralize the management of this application, but end user feedback meant that the application ran faster than if they were installed locally on their PCs even Citrix

For part 2 of this case study we will take a look at examples focused on the medical staff - (Part 2 can be found here)

If you vertically in a case study to your specific government are concentrated interested, please leave a comment and we can add it to the list!

Thanks for reading,

Rob
