Comparing the three files first company sharing and synchronization plan products -

You can tell when a new technology market was born when the major industry analysts starting to notice. It is clear from reading recent reports by leading analysts that a new "File Sharing and Sync Enterprise" market was formed. There are many different perspectives and approaches to EFSS market and several major providers have emerged . Our potential customers ask us how ShareFile against the competition, and usually Box and Accellion are products that refer to clients. below is my own assessment of ShareFile vs. Box and Accellion.

Box. Proponents of this market know Box as a startup Software-as-a-Service Silicon Valley (SaaS) that aa attracted many venture capital funds. Box clings to a almost religious belief that the only way to go with EFSS is using cloud-based storage, managed by Box. in fact, only current concession Box to work with local storage in shops and existing files, such as network shares Microsoft SharePoint is traditional and through its ECM Cloud Connect can offer. Box says ECM Cloud Connect can synchronize files between Enterprise Content Management systems and existing storage customers from Box Cloud. It's all part of what the Box markets like the ability to "consolidate all of your file services on Box." (And yes, the big storage vendors such as NetApp and EMC have taken note of the shooting through their arc ...) On a related note, one wonders how the ECM Cloud Connect capability will behave, as Box offers this capability via an OEM relationship with a company called Entropysoft which was recently acquired by Salesforce.com. Box seems likely to appeal to customers ready to "consolidate all their file services" in the hands of the box (and its Cloud Storage only philosophy).

Accellion is essentially opposite Box. Accellion is a start-up, and largely took the opposite approach to Cloud and SaaS. Accellion offers a "fully on Site" product that EFSS Enterprise IT installs and manages its own center data. This approach tends to appeal to corporate iT organizations who believe a system that is entirely within the organization's data center is more secure. of course, this means there are more system install, manage, patch, etc. and a year after purchasing the product, Accellion customers will have to devote much time and effort to make the latest level and features. with a product entirely on site, users depend of their IT services to keep them updated with the latest and greatest features.

If Box and Accellion occupy opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of SaaS and cloud-based storage EFSS market Citrix ShareFile offers what we believe is the "best of both worlds. " ShareFile offers the benefits of low maintenance SaaS, with the flexibility to store data in either the Citrix Cloud managed on site or in stores existing files (eg traditional network shares). Let's take a look at the architecture of ShareFile to explain this in detail:

ShareFile is composed of two subsystems: the "Control Plane" and the chart below is a good illustration "StorageZones . "

the control plane is where the heart lives ShareFile logical application, for both ShareFile.com (American service) and ShareFile.eu ( based service in Europe). We adopt a SaaS approach with the control plan, so that new features are delivered to customers automatically, without having to perform upgrades manually. This reduces Opex for the IT organization to our clients, and ensures that the application is always up to date.

StorageZones offer the flexibility to store data in multiple places. Customers can choose "StorageZones Citrix managed" using one of the various Cloud Storage 8 locations worldwide, for compliance and optimum performance for a global user base. There is also the possibility of using "StorageZones managed clients" where data storage is managed on site. Security officials in the enterprise IT organization like this, because they control where the data is at rest. Finally, StorageZone Connectors enable mobile access to data that lives in file stores, including existing traditional network shares (and SharePoint is on the short-term roadmap ShareFile * -thanks to Zenprise now XenMobile MDM Technology for the running start on this technology!) It is important to note that StorageZone Connectors, unlike ECM cloud Connect-Box does not require you to move data around. existing tools and processes continue to function normally

So with StorageZones managed by the client, the image is amended as follows :.

Notice in the image above that the use of Citrix managed StorageZones managed clients and are not mutually exclusive. You can use both managed and Citrix StorageZones managed clients (including StorageZone connectors) in a ShareFile account. Our customers are very happy to have this flexibility, and we certainly believe it offers the best of both worlds from the Box "Cloud Only" and Accellion of "on site" philosophies.

For Citrix customers Sharefile also offers integration with our other products such as XenDesktop, XenApp, NetScaler and now XenMobile (formerly Zenprise). Regarding the mobility of enterprises, Citrix is unique in that it offers leading products in both MDM and EFSS markets, in addition to widely used product lines XenApp / XenDesktop. Including ShareFile offers only market desktop synchronization tool that is optimized for use on all virtual desktop environments. For companies looking to solve a wide range of mobility needs, Citrix ShareFile is certainly to have on your list.
