Overview:

XenDesktop 7 Director with the EdgeSight network analysis function provides the context for networking in traditional virtual application and help desk role. The Help Desk will often resolve issues with slow performance and must be able to prove that the reported problem is not a problem, but rather XenDesktop is the result of poor networking. XenDesktop 7 offers the possibility to the root of performance issues because of the session caused by the network by integrating NetScaler HDX Insight into the views of Director. Now the user can check with Help Desk Director if the issue of performance from the end user due to the network and quickly escalate to the appropriate level 2 team.

The EdgeSight network analysis (Director and Insight HDX integration) is available for customers only Platinum

The HDX overview of Director data is shown in two locations with different views. Trends on the view and the Details view of the user. See the screenshots below:

Trends view:

In the Trends, data HDX Insight is available on the Network tab. It lists the network details such as the average bandwidth, latency, jitter customer, ICA round trip time, and many other network related details at the site. There are three selections:

Users

  • To quickly analyze network health, the table presents a summary showing the average network settings by the time selection
  • the user list contains a list of users who accessed the environment in the selected period of time. Measures such as the latency, number of application launches, ICA RTT, bandwidth, and jitter are provided on a per user basis
  • Admins are able to drill down on a per user basis relevant to that user network measures

applications

  • graph shows an average of the launch period for applications and the number of application for launch specified time.
  • list shows each application, the number of launches for this application and the average duration of specific connection to this application.
  • Admins are able to drill down into each application of additional measures.

Desktops

  • chart shows average bandwidth used for desktop computers during the specified time.
  • list shows the user associated with the desktop, the session length, average latency, ICA RTT average and average bandwidth used
  • Admins are able to drill down on a per user basis for additional details

rating - the network tab is activated based on the XenDesktop license edition. The displayed information from HDX Insight based on the NetScaler license edition. NetScaler Enterprise displays the last 60 minutes of data, NetScaler Platinum show historical data of more than 60 minutes. All data presented in the Network tab is the result of traffic flowing through the NetScaler. If traffic does not flow through the NetScaler, that data will not be displayed

Details User view :.

For XenDesktop Platinum customers, the Network panel is also available on the user details. This panel provides the details of the network that are specific to the user's session.

How can we configure Insight Director & HDX to work together?

  • using Install Manager. XenDesktop installer
  • Open the command prompt and run C :. Inetpub wwwroot Director tools DirectorConfig.exe / confignetscaler command
  • Specify the name of the machine IP / host HDX Insight in the name field of the machine, the name of user and password.
  • Select the desired type of connection. Enter 1 for the https connection and 0 for the HTTP connection. Use https connection type to maintain a secure connection

HTTP vs HTTPS Connection for HDX integration Insight :.

  • Using HTTPS connection for both HDX Insight and director is recommended for better security
  • If the connection manager is done via HTTPS, but HDX Insight is configured for HTTP connection, the connection is only partially encrypted. This is called Web page with mixed content.
  • The blog "Browser Best Practices for Citrix Manager" describes the steps to enable mixed content in browsers.
  • Also, when you use an HTTPS connection for HDX Insight, the corresponding certificate to the HDX Preview must be used to view content without any errors on the Network Manager tab.

What are the requirements and HDX NetScaler Insight?

  • NetScaler Overview HDX must be v10.1 or above.
  • version XenDesktop VDA 7.0 and above are supported by HDX Insight and NetScaler.
  • Storefront XenDesktop 7.0 versions of the installer or above can be used to initiate user sessions.
  • Receiver for Mac v11.8 and Windows Receiver 14.0 (4.0) and above are required to specify the measures ICA RTT.
