Citrix NetScaler Gateway 10.1: - Simplification

If you are a Citrix NetScaler Gateway (formerly Access Gateway) client or have taken some of the recent evolution of the product, I bet you given our commitment to product simplification. In December 2012, we launched a wizard that lets you configure access to Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop / CloudGateway a very easy way. This wizard has helped many of you with your paperwork, and we got great feedback from all of you. Simplification is an ongoing activity, and here we are announcing our last on this path.

With the new version 10.1, we have a new streamlined experience integrated into the product. You can look at this experience as a summation of the following:

  1. Great news FTU (First Time User) throughput for NetScaler
  2. NetScaler Personalized Home Gateway experience
  3. simplifying the gateway assistant

Experience FTU

NetScalers now come with a new integrated flow FTU and the idea is simple - before you enter all the hard stuff NetScalers let you do, tell us a little about your NetScaler. We collect this basic information, including the license, reboot and give you an experience best suited to your use case. Say, licenses that you have provided is a Gateway license, so we will take you to this new personalized experience at home gateway automatically. Cool!

NetScaler personalized gateway Home Experience

So you apply a Gateway license, and we decided to take you to the Home Gateway personalized experience. What this new experience? Again, the idea is very simple - NetScaler offers tons of features. this is not relevant for your use case of the gateway. So we hide all unnecessary tools away, so you can focus on your primary use case - configure the gateway to provide remote access. This new hosting experience will allow you to do just that - create new gateway vservers, monitor, edit / delete ...

simplified gateway Assistant

So this new experience Home allows you to create new NetScaler vservers gateway. And we decided to make it a breeze. The bridge is divided into the following sections:

  1. Basic vServer settings - Provide Virtual IP, Port Name for this gateway
  2. Certificate - provide the certificate to configure SSL
  3. authentication - Set LDAP / certificate / Radius / SmartCard authentication 1-2 factor you need this gateway to enforce
  4. Citrix Enterprise Store settings - Set the details of your backend Citrix: XenMobile / XenDesktop / XenApp.

XenMobile the new experience is a breeze with this new flow and the wizard allows you to set it up in a jiffy. As stated by an expert XenMobile - "The new wizard makes configuration of mobility from hours to minutes" J
